ALLOWING FOR DIFFERENT USER GROUPS
Two visions of deployment are illustrated here in the following two diagrams. HC, SC, and CC users may overlap in many instances, but the following demonstrates how the pods can be assembled to allow for customized, even specialized use and activity.
CONFIG. A:
SOCIAL/CASUAL
FOCUSED
The social configuration accommodates a group of cyclists that are weighted with more social cyclists and casual cyclists than hardcore. The modules and connections are picked and configured to address the needs of the group. For example, there are more kitchens and restrooms per user. Also, picnic configurations are ample for socializing and gathering.
The recovery configurations accommodates a group of cyclists that are weighted with more hardcore cyclists. The bike storage modules are in use more than the bathroom kitchen module. Bunk bed configurations are utilized and the bike rack function is deployed in more frequency.
This envisions a group configuration more geared towards SC and CC users, for socializing, comfort, and opportunities for even non-cycling related activities.
This group configuration is geared towards HC users focusing on utility, recovery, and efficiency. HC users can enter and exit quickly, touch-and-go with repairs and rest.
MODULES, SUBMODULES, & POLYMODULES is a proposal for the European Velo Stops Competition that pursues maximum portability, sustainability, and modularity in support of accommodating a variety of different users.
Essentially, the proposal is for 2 pods (modules) that are capable of linking in a variety of ways (submodules) to accommodate different functionality. The linked units (polymodules) can be brought together at different stops along the journey to form customized camping experiences for different groups with different needs.
